Way of the Flowing River (5e Subclass)

Background

Unlike traditional monks those who go down this path tend to stray from life at a monastery though there has been some cases when monasteries have been established. Often times preferring to be secluded and left to their training these monks have learnt to master the properties of water, harnessing it's power and unleashing it upon all who stand in their way.

Character Backstory Suggestions

Character backgrounds could include some sort of shameful state of being. The character could be regretful about their state of being, and should seek to address it without drawing attention to it. They will not hide from this trait, but it may be uncomfortable for them to speak openly about when brought up.

A monk on the path of the Way of the Flowing River might be someone who was made fun of due to their appearance or other qualities by their peers or even those around them thus seeking solitude and the strength to prove them wrong. They may also be a deserter from a military force, or an exile from another land due to some crime. They may also be cursed, which brings pain to those around them (e.g., lycanthropy, diseased, cause bad luck to those around them, etc.)
