A smart rifle is a highly advanced selective-fire military rifle. In addition to mechanical improvements characteristic of a theoretical "advanced combat rifle" which has double the long-range hit probability of a modern assault rifle, it fires compact caseless ammunition and it utilizes a computerized AI targeting system, making hitting even a difficult target a snap. You gain the following benefits when attacking with a smart rifle:

• You gain a +2 bonus to attack rolls.
• When you use a smart rifle to attack a creature you can't see, your inability to see it doesn't impose disadvantage on your attack rolls against it.
• Half cover and three-quarters cover does not provide an AC bonus against your attacks.

In addition to combat utilities, a smart rifle incorporates sophisticated diagnostics which provide creatures with advantage on ability checks to maintain or repair it.
