Church of the Ptomainites
- This system-wide group of individuals has only a few hundred thousand in their ranks. They believe that after what happened in humanity's original system, humans cannot be trusted with any others. They have a very decentralized government with only a few levels of power. Each small group of people have their own leader, with each leader's communications having an equal say in where the Church goes next.
- The Church borrows its followers' namesakes from a very old English word for a discredited group of poisons thought to cause sickness. They usually like to keep to themselves and make sure everyone's in a group as they move from place to place.
- Even though everyone outside of the group believes they are nothing but tinfoil-hatted conspiracy theorists, they do have incredibly powerful technology on their hands; out of pieces of junk and secondhand garbage, sometimes they found a diamond in the rough. A damaged artificial intelligence, a master computer programmer, an abandoned space relay station floating out in the middle of nowhere. They began with biological viruses that mimicked the annual flu and slowly evolved into a derivative of smallpox that killed millions. After this, as many as a quarter of all Ptomainites were killed and had their personality programs wiped from the main computer system. Now, they are hidden for nearly a century but turned towards nanotechnology to destroy humanity. Their deadliest nanite is a nanoparticle named The Cleanse. They are distributing small containers full of The Cleanse to every Church group in the system in hopes of releasing it at the same time and killing everyone with it at once.
