Akala Island in the anime

Akala Island made its first appearance in Young Kiawe Had a Farm!, where Ash and Kiawe visited it to help out on Kiawe's family farm.

Ash, his classmates, Professor Kukui, and Olivia traveled to Akala Island in The Island Whisperer!. They left and returned to Melemele at the end of Rising from the Ruins!.

Ash and his classmates visited Akala Island again in Pushing the Fiery Envelope!, where they visited the Battle Royal Dome to see a Battle Royal and meet the Masked Royal.

Ash and his classmates visited Akala Island yet again in Sparking Confusion!, where they visited Wela Volcano Park as the Ultra Guardians.

In Heart of Fire! Heart of Stone!, Ash and his classmates took Brock and Misty to visit Akala Island. During the trip, they visited Kiawe's family farm and met Olivia.

Trivia

  • This is the only one of Alola's main islands which does not have a meadow. The island's nectar can instead be found at Royal Avenue. Despite the location not being in the game, a location header called "Akala Meadow" exists in the game data.
  • Out of all of Alola's islands, Akala Island has the most island challenge trials to complete, with a total of four, including Olivia's grand trial.
  • The four trials for Akala Island are of the same types as the four "phases" of the Pokémon Stadium stage in the Super Smash Bros. series - Water, Fire, Grass, and Rock.

Origin

Akala Island's real-life counterpart is the Hawaiian island of Maui. Pink is the island's official color.[1]

Name origin

ʻĀkala is Hawaiian for pink.
